Arnold Clark Community Fund

Since 1989 ISKCON Scotland has been serving Scotland. Our two guiding principles are helping to improve people’s lives physically, mentally and spiritually whilst aiming to help our planet and environment at the same time.

We are extremely grateful to the Arnold Clark community fund who awarded us a grant of £2,500. The Arnold Clark community fund is an amazing initiative that is giving out funds to help charitable organisations that are working with people that have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2018 we started a food distribution service called Food for Scotland. During 2020 we started a home delivery service where we delivered hot plant based meals to members of our community. We are running this service currently in South Lanarkshire.

We run a community kitchen here at Krishna Eco farm working with staff and volunteers who are either cooks or drivers. Some of the fresh produce we harvest at the farm goes into these nutritionally balanced meals.

Over 30,000 meals have been delivered since May 2020. We are currently focusing on delivering meals in the South Lanarkshire area. At the moment we are delivering around 800 meals a month. Members of the community can book a meal online and we will deliver a fresh plant based meal twice a week. The areas we distribute to are Lesmahagow, Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill, Larkhall, Lanark, Rigside, Douglas, Carluke.

The grant we received will go towards the costs of cook disposables, transport costs to deliver meals, food, volunteer/staff costs and gas for cooking.

If you know anyone who would like to book a free plant based meal please follow the link –https://iskconscotland.org/book-free-meal/

Our gratitude goes out to Arnold Clark for helping us to continue to deliver this much needed service to our community.
